# Game modes

Choose BO2 or COLDWAR rules for each arena and understand their progression systems.

## One mode per arena

Select a mode while the arena is empty and stopped:

```text
/zs arena setmode <arena> BO2
/zs arena setmode <arena> COLDWAR
```

These commands show the two alternatives; choose one for your arena. They refer to Minecraft adaptations inspired by those games, rather than exact recreations of every original mechanic.

## BO2

BO2 focuses on the classic points-driven round loop: survive waves, repair barriers, open rooms, buy perks and improve weapons. It is a straightforward starting point for a traditional zombies map.

## COLDWAR

COLDWAR adds salvage drops, a three-tier plate-armor system, an armor wall-buy station and a selectable starting loadout. This adds another resource and upgrade path beside the shared points economy.

## What the modes share

Both modes use your configured arenas, rooms, spawns and stations. WeaponMechanics remains required for gunplay. Both can use perks, Pack-a-Punch, mystery boxes, power-ups and team revives.

Mode behavior and balance belong to the mode implementation and configuration. Test your station placement and upgrade paths after changing an arena's mode.

## Custom modes

The current code provides a `GameMode` service-provider interface for registering additional modes. That is a developer extension point; only BO2 and COLDWAR are bundled modes described here. Installing an unrelated plugin does not automatically add a new supported mode.
