Configuration

Configuration

How the in-game settings editor works, what lives in config.yml, and how to set up storage, languages and data groups.

The settings editor

DeluxeCombat is configured in-game: type /dc menu and you're in the settings editor. Every change is saved and applied instantly — there is no reload command and no server restart needed.

Warning: Don't edit data.yml by hand. It is the storage file behind the settings editor and is overwritten by the plugin. The only file meant for manual editing is config.yml (see below).

The editor also lets you switch the plugin language (10 languages included: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Chinese) and shows support information.

Settings sections

Section What you configure there
General Global plugin settings, prefix, command aliases
Supported Plugins Everything related to hooked plugins (WorldGuard, Vault, EssentialsX, …)
PvP General PvP behaviour: knockback, item cooldowns, potions, protection
Combat The combat-log system: tag duration, punishments, blocked commands
Point-Ranking-System Points, ranks, leaderboards and stat handling
Death Death behaviour: corpses, head drops, kill recaps, respawn protection
Healthbar Health displays, including the boss-bar healthbar

Setting types

The editor uses four types of settings, color-coded by their icon:

  1. Boolean — click to toggle between enabled (green icon) and disabled (gray icon).
  2. String (orange) — most string settings open a selector menu; pick an option and you're returned to the settings. Settings with free-form values are typed in chat with /dc setValue <value>.
  3. List (purple) — selector menus where you add as many options as you want, then click Close.
  4. Integer / Double (blue) — numeric values, entered with /dc setValue <number>.

The config.yml

A small set of features is configured in plugins/DeluxeCombat/config.yml instead of the editor, because they are free-form lists that don't fit a GUI:

Section Purpose
Storage Database backend, connection pool, caching, leaderboard refresh, Redis
Point-Ranking-System Display names for ranks on the leaderboard
Custom_Items Custom tools: bind particles, effects and sounds to hits with normal items
Kill-Streaks Gifts for reaching kill streaks — see Rewards & Kill Streaks
Rewards Rewards for kills — see Rewards & Kill Streaks
Elo-System Elo point exchange tables — see Elo System

Changes to config.yml require a server restart.

Storage

DeluxeCombat stores player data in SQLite by default — zero setup required. For networks, or if you want stats shared between servers, switch to MySQL:

Storage:
  # SQLITE or MYSQL
  type: "MYSQL"
  MySQL:
    username: "user"
    password: "secret"
    database: "deluxecombat"
    host: "127.0.0.1"
    port: 3306
    useSSL: false

The Storage section also exposes tuning options you normally don't need to touch:

  • Pool — HikariCP connection-pool sizing and timeouts
  • Cache — how often cached stats are flushed to the database, and whether to flush on player quit
  • Leaderboard — refresh interval and pull-limit (the number of ranks fetched; this is the highest rank leaderboard placeholders can display)
  • Redis — optional Redis connection for faster cross-server data synchronization

Data groups

Data groups let multiple servers share one database while keeping separate stats. A typical use case: one Factions server and two minigame servers should each have their own leaderboards.

To assign a server to a data group:

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Open plugins/DeluxeCombat/data.yml and set General.data-group.
  3. Start the server again, and repeat for every server that needs its own group.

/dc group list shows all active groups and the group the current server belongs to. Leaderboard placeholders can target a specific group — see Placeholders.

Custom tools

The Custom_Items section of config.yml turns normal materials into custom tools that trigger a particle, potion effect and sound when you hit with them. Each entry defines the material, an optional permission, the target (ENEMY or PLAYER), which entities it applies to (PLAYER, ANIMAL or BOTH) and the effect itself.

Warning: Custom tools are not available on Minecraft 1.8.x.
